CIO stands for Chief Information Officer, the name used to identify a company’s Information Technology Director. Back in the day, their role was limited to managing IT technologies and making sure computer banks remained in working order.
Nowadays, the role of the CIO has evolved towards a much more comprehensive concept: seeking a holistic operation of the company from the IT department, examining what benefits can be obtained from new technologies, assessing the return on investment of different IT decisions, connecting all processes through ongoing digital transformation, thus contributing towards improving all areas of the company, and, consequently, increasing the business’s total productivity.
